Legally IT – Preparation for Mediation of IT Disputes

7 Dec 2011 | 4 - 6pm | Maxwell Chambers, Anderson Room

IT disputes are multi-faceted and can have adverse effects on technology development, investment and consumer interests. Therefore it is important that they be managed and resolved in a cost- and time-efficient manner. A considered choice on dispute resolution can benefit parties involved in contractual, non-contractual or standards-related IT disputes.

Mediation, specifically, is an attractive option for parties that place a premium on the preservation or enhancement of their relationship, seek to maintain control over the dispute settlement process, value confidentiality, or want to reach a speedy settlement without damage to their reputations.

Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center are proud to jointly present this talk by Mr Peter Moody and Mr David Perkins, both specialised in mediation of IT and intellectual property disputes and are members of the WIPO List of Neutrals.

Together, they will discuss issues that arise in IT mediations (e.g. use of experts) and the benefits of mediation for such disputes.

Peter Moody is a partner in BrookStreet des Roches (UK) LLP and has extensive experience in large international technology and contract disputes. He has also been involved in numerous international arbitrations and mediations.
